Every episode of TBBT so far this season, has been great. I don’t know how the writers keep coming up with all these new ideas and hilarious dialogue, but I’m not complaining. In the fifth episode of season 7; Amy is invited to work at CalTech for an experiment which causes a rift within her relationship, whilst Bernadette and Howard have a falling out of their own, leading him to Raj’s sofa.
Starting off, Sheldon sees a bit too much of Amy in this episode (not in the way you’re thinking). Amy gets offered the chance to do an experiment which just so happens to be at Sheldon and the rest of the guys workplace, CalTech University.
Not thinking it would be a problem, Amy runs in past Sheldon on date night and he seems unfazed by the fact he’ll be spending much more time with Amy than usual. When he discusses it with the guys, Howard makes a point of saying he’d never be able to work with Bernadette and then go home and spend his evenings with her; a boundary needs to be set. Sheldon then questions his judgement.
Meanwhile, the ladies’ are over at Penny’s apartment when Sheldon knocks three times as you’d expect, only to tell Amy that she can’t work there. He also drops Howard in it, by saying directly to Bernadette that Howard wouldn’t be able to see her all day, every day. She storms off to have it out with him, whilst Amy explains to Sheldon that the contract is already signed and there’s nothing he can do about it (with a little help from her bestie, Penny).
After what appears a very lengthy argument between Howard and his feisty wife; it turns out he’ll be sleeping on Raj’s sofa. Side note: Howard, how did you ever think you’d get away with lying to Bernie? I’m a believer that she can literally see right through people with those daggers!
The next day we see Amy passing the guys in the cafeteria. She and Sheldon have decided to keep their distance at work. Leonard comments that Amy looks a little icy, so Sheldon goes over and talks to her saying that she should sit with the ‘cool kids’ referring to them of course. She looks to be enjoying herself with the company of some of her colleagues, but Sheldon puts an end to that by embarrassing her and insulting them.
In a scene involving a very cute monkey that Amy is working on; Sheldon confronts her about the situation earlier…he doesn’t get a lift home and ends up falling asleep on the bus and visiting the ‘Sri-Lanka of Los Angeles’.
In the final act, a talk with Penny and Leonard, leads Sheldon to Amy’s apartment, he apologises to her without knowing he’s actually insulting her, but things look a little better for the two. The same for Howard and Bernadette, she turns up at Raj’s place and they talk it out, however things don’t go to plan. At the very end, we see the two women discussing their relationship problems with Penny, she says that Leonard is sorting it…we then go to Leonard playing ‘shoot the laser at the balloon and make it pop’, so we’ll see how it goes next episode!
I never have too much praise for this show and the ratings agree with me. As much as I love Penny and Leonard, Kaley and Johnny respectively, it was nice to see the emphasis taken off them and their relationship, for once it wasn’t them having the domestic – didn’t know it was possible.
I don’t usually do this, but having watched the promo for the next episode it looks a big one for Mr Sheldon Cooper, so we must share his joy (and maybe his weird, happy science dance):
See you next week!!
– Sheldon knocking: “Amy, Bernadette, Penny
Amy, Bernadette, Penny
Amy, Bernadette, Penny”
“He’s never going to stop doing that is he?” – Bernadette
“I don’t mind, I’m hoping to put his love of repetition to good use one day” – Amy
– “Are you sure your moth-like personality won’t be drawn to this blazing fire that is myself?” – Sheldon
– On Raj observing Howard and Bernadette’s argument “His only options here are to fake a heart attack or have a real one”
– After Howard stays at Raj’s house for the night:
“So boys, how was the pyjama party, you guys jump on bed and sing into hairbrushes?” – Leonard
“It wasn’t a pyjama party, it was just a couple of bros hanging out, giggling, eating cookie dough and watching princess bride” – Raj
– “Don’t worry little moth, the flame will come to you” – Sheldon
– Sheldon and the monkey putting their hands over their eyes when Amy shows a picture of a woman giving birth.
