Saying Farewell to Glee: Top 5 Finn Hudson Songs/Performances

When Cory Monteith passed away in July 2013, I, amongst floods of people were deeply upset by the loss of such an inspirational and admirable person who was taken at such a young age. He was such an amazing human being and an equally talented actor who had so much ahead of him. Getting to play the role of Finn Hudson in Glee really changed his life. Along with his generosity and good sense of humor, Cory was grateful, something which was very apparent. He wasn’t much of a singer at the start of the show but really developed a beautiful voice – my favourite male voice on the show. Below is a countdown of my best Finn songs/performances. Previously in my Santana Lopez song post I separated it in to solos and group numbers/duets/back-up, however after revisiting the repertoire it seems Finn didn’t have a lot of solos to justify cutting out some of his sensational duets, therefore i have combined solos and duets. ‘The Quarterback’ Glee Tribute To Finn Hudson/Cory Monteith.

I don’t usually review/recap Glee and I’m not going to do that today either. I just wanted to write a piece about the beautiful episode that was written in honour of the late, great, Cory Monteith and his on-screen character, Finn Hudson.

I’m not quite sure what to say about it, apart from it was the hardest thing I have ever watched in my life. Not to discourage people from watching; it was the also potentially one of the best episodes of anything I’ve ever seen, and that says a lot seeing as I watch lots and lots of British and American TV shows.

‘Glee’ 5×03 ‘The Quarterback’ Poster Revealed – Farewell To Finn Hudson.

'Glee' 5x03 'The Quarterback' Poster Revealed - Farewell To Finn Hudson.

I’m in two minds about this one. Obviously sadness is the primary emotion, but I’m looking forward to seeing how they honour Cory and his character, Finn Hudson.

I imagine this episode is going to be beautifully haunting. I don’t doubt they’ll do a great job of the tribute, especially seeing as Lea Michele has assisted with the direction of the episode. My admiration for that woman keeps on moving up.

Seeing Cory/Finn’s photo in black & white really hurts, I for one cannot get over it. A reason I’m dreading it is because after this there is nothing more. We will ALWAYS remember him, for his good spirit, kindness, positive attitude and general goofy character…but people will be trying to move on with their lives whilst always holding Cory close to their heart and it’s the moving on that’s the hardest part. It doesn’t feel real at all. It doesn’t feel like we should be mourning the loss of a 31-year old actor who still had so much to give to this world, both artistically and through the way he would inspire so many.

RIP Cory Monteith. I hope this tribute is as a beautiful as the man you turned out to be ❤
