It’s been nearly two months after the event, but I’ve finally managed to fit in some time to write a review on Katy Perry’s most recent tour; The Prismatic World Tour’, aka one of the best, if not the best tour I have ever been to!
Ok, so I tend to do one of these after each season has finish, in preparation for the season ahead. I know it’s unlikely any of these will actually be covered seeing as Glee won’t be having a full 22-episode season this year (technically next year), however I just wanted to see for myself how many songs there are that I still want them to cover. Over the past five seasons the show has covered over 600+ songs, but there are still songs I would love to see them cover. Below is a list of 25 songs (with accompanying videos of the original) I would like to see Glee cover (with who I think should sing them, also) Enjoy! Also, feel free to comment with songs you would like to see the cast cover 🙂 Continue reading
2013 hasn’t necessarily been the best year…but it has been a great year for music. Among the hundreds of albums that charted in the top 40; I’ve picked my five personal favourites. 2013 has also been a year of surprises in the music industry; Justin Timberlake announcing that he was working on new music then Beyoncé dropping her album at midnight, pop stars are having to find different ways to make people listen to their music first of all, without even buying it. Here are my favourite five albums this year (not in order): Continue reading
Right, I have a thing for slowed down-versions of songs, especially when Glee do it. Despite some of their questionable choices regarding new characters, relationships and dialogue, I personally think Glee always do great covers, they know music best.
Prior to this episode my two favourite Glee covers were Naya Rivera’s (Santana) cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Mine’ and the Glee girls’ (minus Rachel) singing Florence & The Machine’s ‘Shake It Out’. In this episode titled ‘A Katy or A Gaga’, the Gaga fans had to sing a Katy Perry song (if you didn’t know, K-Perry is one of my FAVOURITE singers) so I was curious (and a little nervous) what they would sing and how they would sing it.
I had no reason to be nervous, at all. Jake, Unique, Tina and Kitty sung ‘Wide Awake’ from Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection’ album. Call me naive or whatever, but I usually prefer Glee covers to the originals. Of course there are some exceptions, but most of the time I find myself listening to the Glee version rather than the original artist singing.
I’m not going to say it was better than Katy Perry’s version of the song, but it was definitely on par with it. As I said, I’m a sucker for slowed-down songs, Alex Anders & co. did this cover, wonders. It’s so beautifully touching, you can really hear the lyrics. Jacob Artist (Jake) was at his best here, along with Becca (Kitty). All four were brilliant, but those two shone for me. ‘Wide Awake’ is definitely one of my favourite Glee covers to date, it was simple yet so powerful. Amazing.
Is it just me? Or does it look like weird things are happening over at McKinley? When Glee returns on 7th November; the kids will be taking on two of the biggest pop stars on the planet, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga! It seems like everyone seems to be getting in to the spirit of things (especially Artie). Check out the promotional photos for the 5×04 ‘A Katy Or A Gaga’:
It’s just a matter of days before Katy Cats will be rewarded for their loyalty to the pop-songstress, as Ms. Perry’s much anticipated third album, Prism will be released.
